The right position, balanced watering, and gentle handling of the stems are only half the success. Despite this, they are probably the most common choice if we are thinking about buying new flowers.
The game is worth the candle
Orchids like bright rooms, but they cannot tolerate direct sun. Therefore, it is best to place them in places not exposed to them, such as window sills on the south side. When it comes to watering, the situation is a bit more difficult because it all depends on the specific species. Some like to be constantly moist, others tolerate slightly dryness better. It is best to water them with soft, “standing” water – sometimes it has to be boiled. Orchids grow well when we sprinkle them regularly (sometimes we do it abundantly and skip watering). Let’s not forget that they do not tolerate drafts very well.
If we manage to provide them with appropriate conditions, there is a good chance that they will reward us with their beautiful appearance for a long time. However, it sometimes happens that we either do something not quite right, or some disease or pest creeps in. Then the orchids wither, they no longer bloom so densely, and their leaves lose their color and turn yellow.
Take 2 zlotys and go to the pharmacy
Then, heartily, we run to the garden store to buy orchid conditioner. There are plenty of them in supermarkets, sometimes it’s even difficult to decide which one to buy. Some of them cost a lot. Perhaps instead of going to a gardening center, it’s worth going to a pharmacy. It turns out that ordinary three percent hydrogen peroxide, which you can buy for literally PLN 2, works perfectly for orchids.
If you plan to replant orchids, you can pour hydrogen peroxide into a sprayer and treat the roots with it before transferring them to new covers. Another option is to use a watering conditioner. Just mix 1 part of hydrogen peroxide with 4 parts of boiled water in a container. We water the flowers with this mixture every two weeks. We will quickly notice that their condition has improved significantly and they are more flowery.
