During election campaigns, opposition candidates emphasized that public media reform was on their list of priorities. When the voters’ votes were counted, it turned out that changes in Polish Television may come faster than the stars could have expected. There is an ongoing discussion online about what public media will look like in the new reality.
Robert Makłowicz on his return to TVP: It is not known when the changes will appear
The “good change” brought to Poles by Law and Justice also resulted in a change in the media. The Trójka journalists, beloved by listeners, left Polish Radio, and Jurek Owsiak and the broadcasts from the Finals of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity disappeared from TVP. Today, questions arise as to whether creators and journalists intend to return to public media. However, they are quite cautious.
He left his job at TVP in 2017. The chef began his career on Polish Television in 1998, when he started hosting the program “Robert Makłowicz’s Culinary Travels”. The format remained in the schedule for ten years, and the creator spent the next decade working on the program “Makłowicz w traveling”. After leaving the station, the chef did not give up cooking on the screen. The host, beloved by viewers, is active on YouTube, where he is followed by over half a million subscribers.
Robert Makłowicz will not return to TVP. “For what I do today, YouTube is much better”
In cooperation with Wirtualna Polska, Makłowicz cools down the enthusiasm of those who have hopes for changes in TVP. “It is not known when these changes will actually appear, it is not known what exactly they will consist of, it is not known what specific results will come from them. Therefore, it is difficult to plan anything in connection with them” – he emphasizes.
When asked whether he has any plans and future for Telewizja Polska, Makłowicz firmly answers: Absolutely not. However, he emphasizes that he does not rule out guest participation in a program broadcast on the station. “When TVP really changes, you will no longer have to be ashamed of showing under this banner, you will be able to start accepting invitations from there again. But I am only talking about some occasional cooperation, a visit to a program hosted by someone else. Certainly not about returning to “permanent,” explains the chef.
Makłowicz is satisfied with what YouTube has to offer him. Today, he cannot imagine a better medium for his content. “For what I do today, YouTube is much better than large, traditional public television. So I don’t even think about looking for a niche there or building a new formula tailored to the standards of this station,” he explains. Kucharz values the freedom provided by the Internet and very close contact with viewers. The creator sees no point in giving up the advantages of operating online.
