was born on July 14, 1952 in Poznań. She had dreamed about it since her early years, so after successfully passing the secondary school leaving examination, she decided to try her hand at taking the exams for a theater school in Krakow. The committee members were delighted with her talent and natural charm. She got in the first time.
The affair with the lecturer ended with a wedding. The success of “Nad Niemnem” did not help her career
Her dream studies also brought her love. It was within the walls of the university that she caught the attention of a lecturer from the directing department, Bogdan Hussakowski, who was 11 years her senior. When she obtained her diploma in 1975, he offered her a job at the Dramatic Theater. Jan Kochanowski in Opole, where he served as director. However, she did not take advantage of his reputation and worked persistently for her own success, which was quickly appreciated, because during the 4th Opole Theater Confrontations she received a distinction for her portrayal of Zosia in “Forefathers’ Eve” by Adam Mickiewicz. After 4 years, she decided to move to Łódź, where she got involved with the Theater. Stefan Jaracz, playing the main roles in the most frequently watched performances. In the meantime, she also regularly appeared in the Television Theater. It was loved by both viewers and critics. She was not afraid of demanding and psychologically complex characters. The stage was her true element and, as she claimed, her “favorite place to work”.
However, things didn’t go so well for her in the film world. She made her screen debut in 1982 in “Bluszcz” by Hanka Włodarczyk. She later also appeared in “Idol”, “Vacation in Amsterdam” and “Republic of Hope”, all the while waiting for the role that would catalyze her career. This moment was supposed to happen in 1987, when Zbigniew Kuźmiński cast her in the film adaptation of Eliza Orzeszkowa’s novel (the film is available at ). Interestingly, Rogalska initially did not want to play Marta Korczyńska, because she was at the stage of preparations for the premiere of the play “Ferdydurke”.
If Orzeszkowa could watch the film adaptation of her most famous novel, she would certainly be delighted with the movie Marta
– critics say. Although her popularity skyrocketed, ironically there were no new offers, and the crisis in her career coincided with problems in her private life.
She divorced and ended her career. She believed that in Italy she would start living again
When the filmmakers were celebrating their success, Rogalska learned about Hussakowski’s affair with a student of the Łódź film school, 23 years younger than him. However, she decided not to despair, and the broken heart inspired her to change her life. In 1987, she played Rachel in the play “The Wedding” directed by her husband and gave up her career. The divorce was the beginning of a real revolution. Initially, she planned to focus on the wellness salon that she opened in Łódź in 1987, but the political changes that took place in Poland in 1989 turned out to be an ideal opportunity to start with a “clean slate”. Then she wanted to taste life abroad. She closed her business, sold her apartment, packed the most necessary things and set off for sunny Italy. On May 14, 1991, she died in a tragic car accident that occurred in Sassuolo near Modena. She was less than 40 years old at the time.
