Alicia Keys shows two faces, and Moses Sumney and Fleet Foxes charm live [P£YTY TYGODNIA]

On Fridays, on Gazeta.pl, we provide you with CDs that are worth paying attention to, if only to form your own opinion about them. The descriptions below have been prepared on the basis of the publishers’ materials.

Alicia Keys – “Keys”

After last year’s album “Alicia” we get something like her second, rich in new part. Alicia Keys I announced that the first half, or “Originals”, are the sounds we love it for and which we usually expect from it. Therefore, there were also soul ballads about love (and not only) with piano accompaniment. In turn, “Unlocked” are songs that the duo Keys and Mike-Will-Made-It created on the basis of samples from “Originals”. More than an hour and a half of new music came out of a rather interesting idea – it’s worth checking out without a doubt.

Moses Sumney – “Live from Blackalachia”

In the spring of 2020, Moses Sumney’s music was an escape from the pandemic hype for many listeners. The “grae” album – sublime, extremely emotional, sometimes even prickly to the heart – turned out to be quite a success. Soon after its premiere, Sumney decided to record a large part of it, along with songs from the album “Aromanticism”, in a concert version. For this purpose, he took the team to the vicinity of the Blue Range in North Carolina. “In two days, we recorded 14 songs, completely live, with trees as our audience and crickets as backing vocals,” writes Sumney. “Live From Blackalachia” is meant to be “a wild image of what can happen when we try not only to recover nature, but also to reintegrate into it.”

Fleet Foxes – “A Very Lonely Solstice”

For those who prefer something more subdued, Robin Pecknold, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter of the band Fleet Foxes has prepared a real treat. Last year, the artist played in the church of St. Anna and the Holy Trinity in New York’s Brooklyn concert entitled “A Very Lonely Solstice” – now we can listen to it on streaming services. The premiere date makes a pair with the title, because the “very lonely solstice” winter will come on December 21 – from that day on, the sun will rise in the sky for longer and longer. During the performance, Pecknold took on Fleet Foxes pieces from, among others from the album “Shore”, as well as the classic folk ballad “Silver Dagger” and the song by Nina Simone “In the Morning”.

Dziarma – “Dziarma”

DZIARMA blazes the trail as one of the strongest representatives of women on the rap scene. The original style and fresh approach to the lyrics and sounds made each of her single echoes widely. The rapper breaks taboos, says what she thinks, does not avoid a sharp tongue, does not care about conventions. At the same time, it shows itself from a so far unknown, sensitive side. The publisher announces that the album “Dziarma” is a kind of diary of an artist who describes her world: the environment, the music industry, male-female relations. Honest to the pain, she pushes herself elbows in a world heavily dominated by men and cultural tracing papers, accurately commenting on the surrounding reality.

Brasstracks – “Welcome Back Era”

If you’re looking for something light and fun to incorporate at the start of the weekend, Brasstracks is here to help. American producers, specializing in seasoning r & b-soul and hip-hop tracks with characteristic, slightly muffled sounds of brass, end the next chapter of their career with the EP “Welcome Back Era”. Its first edition was released in July and has now been completed with a few new songs. After leaving a large label, which expected Brasstracks to close themselves in a specific sound framework, the gentlemen enjoy regained musical freedom. Among the guests, among others Tori Kelly and COOKIE.
