Netflix intends to show a production based on the work of Edgar Allan Poe and title the series “The Fall of the House of Usher”. Mike Flanagan (“The Haunting of Hill House”) is responsible for the project. He wrote on Twitter:
This miniseries is a modern remix of some of Edgar Allan Poe’s most iconic works. To tell this epic story of greed, horror and tragedy, we gathered the largest cast in Intrepid Pictures history.
Who will Mark Hamill play in the Netflix horror movie?
that in addition to Hamill, the cast also includes Frank Langella (“Frost / Nixon”), Carla Gugino (“Watchen. The Guardians”), Mary McDonnell (“Battlestar Galactica”) and Carl Lumbly (“Strength and Honor”). Flanagan announced that Langella will play the eponymous Roderick Usher, described as “Patriarch of the Usher Dynasty,” and McDonnell will play Roderick’s twin sister, Madeline Usher.
Lumbly will play the legendary detective Poe, C. Auguste Dupin, and Hamill is – as Flanagan reveals – “a character who feels surprisingly well in the shadows.” However, he did not want to say neither what the name of Hamill’s character will be, nor to reveal the secret of Gugino’s role in the series.
For now, the release date of the eight-episode production is not yet known.
