They changed the script of “The Bloody Moon”. Leonardo DiCaprio was supposed to play someone else

Soon, “The Bloody Moon”, a new production by Martin Scorsese, will hit Polish cinemas. In the main roles we will see Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and the phenomenal Lily Gladstone. The interview given by the actress shows that several significant changes were introduced while working on the film, including the decision to rotate the cast.

In an interview for “Interview” magazine, Lily Gladstone talked about the changes that the filmmakers decided to make during production. They concerned, among other things, what roles the actors would ultimately be cast in. Previous reports indicated that he was to play Tom White, an FBI agent. The actor was not supposed to be happy with this, so the creators gave him the role of Ernest Burkhart.

Meanwhile, she admitted that the biggest changes occurred after the hearing, which took place before the pandemic. According to the actress, the earlier dialogues between the characters were quite extensive and a bit wordy. So she was surprised when, after a year, she received a call from the producers asking for an online meeting and a new text, reduced to almost a minimum.

“Before the remakes, I had three pages of quite florid dialogue. It was very difficult for me, so when everything was shut down for the duration of the pandemic and work on the project was suspended, I assumed that I had failed the audition. However, about a year later, I received a request for a Zoom meeting with Martin Scorses. I was sent a new text with almost no dialogue – it was the dinner scene, Mollie’s first date with Ernest. I felt like I was really feeling the character now. I heard the rewrites made a 180-degree change. Leo was supposed to play Tom White, the character now played by Jesse Plemons,” the actress said in an interview with “Interview”.

is a story about a series of brutal murders among a tribe of Indians that took place 100 years ago in Oklahoma. The production is a film adaptation of David Grann’s reportage entitled “The Time of the Blood Moon. The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI”. The book quickly became a bestseller, and the film makers decided to transfer this shocking story to the screen. The premiere of the film starring Leonardo DiCaprio is scheduled for October 20. The world premiere took place a few months ago, in May this year.
