Taly Salas and Roxana Landivar They are based in Argentina. They came together during the pandemic through a desire to make music. This ended up being the creation of Nika turbine (@nikaturbina_), a project that published its first EP less than two weeks ago, entitled I’m not going to be calm.

While the sound achieved isn’t something that hasn’t been heard before, you’d be hard-pressed to find anything similar in the local independent music scene. Darkness and irreverence haunt these songs and take over them; However, they are not filled with sadness or unbearable. Social issues are touched on in a funny way, but they are there and at the end the questions you raise begin.
Production was carried out in Ecuador by Kike Landivarand in Argentina for Federico Goldemberg. The mastering was performed by Bika Violet. From the critic’s perspective, the voices are something that could have been worked on a little more; However, it is understandable that this is part of the identity of Nika turbine, something that reflects the duo’s authenticity. No matter what happens, conviction is one of your most powerful weapons.
Perhaps these songs go unnoticed in Ecuador and do not achieve what was expected, something that would be very painful if this were the case; In Argentina, and especially in Buenos Aires, I’m not going to be calm It could be something very close to success and relevance.
Two young girls dealing with social and everyday issues, surrounded by the above-mentioned musical styles, are worth giving at least play and an opportunity. I hope you follow the columnist’s suggestion here and listen to this project that undoubtedly promises a lot.
