Northern English musician Liam Gallagher will go on tour in 2024in principle without his brother Noel, the famous Oasis debut album “Definitely Maybe” on the occasion of its 30th anniversary.
This was announced by the artist through Instagram. There will be a total of 12 concerts in the United Kingdom and Ireland and tickets will go on sale at 8 GMT this Friday. The tour will begin in Sheffield (northern England) on June 2 and will conclude on June 27 in his hometown, the day before the start of the Glastonbury music festival.
The protagonists of that tour will be the greatest hits of the group formed in 1991 in Manchester and dissolved in 2009. And as he himself specifies, in these performances the youngest of the Gallagher brothers, who have been at odds for a long time, will perform the entire album which brought them stardom “as well as selected B-sides of the era.”
“I’m jumping around the house announcing the ‘Definitely Maybe’ tour,” he said. “It is the most important album of the 90s without exception. I wouldn’t be here without him and neither would you, so let’s celebrate together,” she adds.
According to British media, Gallagher is likely to count on Oasis co-founder Paul Arthurs (also known as Bonehead), who already performed concerts with him earlier this year after suffering from tonsil cancer from which he was discharged in September 2022.
“Definitely Maybe”, released by Creation Records in August 1994, is a landmark album in British music and helped define the era of so-called Britpop.
It reached number one on the sales charts upon its release, becoming what was then the best-selling debut album in history of music in the United Kingdomand was later certified eight times platinum.
Liam Gallagher, 51, frequently performs songs from that album and from the Oasis catalog in general in his solo performances.
His last own album was “C’mon You Know” in 2022, while this year Noel, 56, released “Council Skies” with his band High Flying Birds.
