Who is entitled to 500 plus for seniors? A number of conditions must be met
Those who want to apply for supplementary benefits for people unable to live independently must meet appropriate conditions. According to the Insurance Institution, these are:
- over 18 years of age;
- incapacity for independent existence, confirmed by a judgment of incapacity for independent existence or a judgment of total incapacity for work and inability to live independently;
- lack of entitlement to receive a retirement and disability pension, as well as not receiving permanent or periodic benefits, as well as lack of entitlement to a benefit from a foreign institution competent for pension and disability pension matters, or these benefits do not exceed the income criterion (from March 2023 it amounts to PLN 2,157.80 PLN gross);
- place of residence in Poland and Polish citizenship or the right to permanent residence in Poland, or legalized stay in Poland, if you are one of the citizens of the European Union or European Free Trade Association (EFTA) member states
Persons under temporary arrest or serving a prison sentence cannot apply for the supplementary benefit, unless it takes place in the form of electronic supervision.
Changes in 500 plus for seniors. What awaits beneficiaries?
The full amount of the benefit (PLN 500 per month) is available to those whose income does not exceed PLN 1,657.80 gross. In the case of a higher amount, the benefit is reduced according to the “PLN for PLN” principle. However, here it is necessary to take into account the changes highlighted by “”. In 2024, the income criterion is to increase by at least the forecast inflation rate. If it amounts to 12.3%, the amount will increase to PLN 2,423.41 gross.
