Suzanne Somers, star of ‘Three’s a Crowd’, dies aged 76 after five-decade battle with cancer

The tragic news comes less than three months after her husband Alan Hamel announced that the television icon’s breast cancer had returned.

“I have been living with cancer since I was 20 years old. And every time that little jerk comes along, I keep dealing with him,” Somers said in an interview with Party tonight in July this year. “I’m doing my best to keep this insidious disease from controlling me.”

This disease affected her for 50 years. The performer was first diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 50, after battling skin cancer in her 30s and two hyperplasias (increased cell formation in an organ or tissue) in her 20s.
