Nine singers sang about how important choices are in life. Je¿owska: “We have power, we have a voice!”

#CośTrzebaWybrać is a musical project in which women encourage women to participate in the parliamentary elections. Nine artists took part in the project. As the campaign organizer writes, they come from different generations and backgrounds, represent various musical styles, but they share the belief that making choices in life is important.

Nine singles were recorded by: Karolina Czarnecka (“Fin-de-siecleistka”), Martyna Jakubowicz (“Armageddon at Any Moment”), Paulina Przybysz (“Krople”), Alicja Julia Boratyn (“Everything You’ve Got”), Ej! (“Ijo ijo – Special Edition”), Majka Jeżowska (“We have the power”), Karolina Cicha (“We’re all chosen – Female version of the song from the SAD album”), Małgorzata “Tekla” Tekiel (“Wybór”) and Zuzanna Wrońska (” Voice”).

• Karolina Czarnecka – actress, singer, songwriter. She co-founded the theater and cabaret group “Pożar w brodelu”, and later its female branch Żelazne Waginy. She recorded the albums “Córka” (2014), “Feminopolo” (together with Gang Śródmieście, 2017), “Solarium 2.0” (2018) and “Cud” (2019).
• Martyna Jakubowicz – vocalist, guitarist and composer combining folk, blues and rock influences. She started in the 1970s, performing arrangements of Joan Baez songs. She cooperated with, among others: with the bands Seasonal Worker, Krzak, Closed Branch. She has recorded over a dozen albums, appreciated both by the foreign press (reviews in “Rolling Stone” and “Guitar Player”) and the domestic music industry (nominations for the Fryderyk Award: 1995, 2011). She permanently collaborates with Andrzej Jakubowicz, who is the author of most of her texts
• Paulina Przybysz – with her sister Natalia, she formed the band Sistars in the years 2001-2013, she also performed solo under the pseudonyms Lil’Sista and Pinnawela. He plays with the band Rita Pax and Sonar Soul, and together with Marek Pędziwiatr he creates the duo Minimal. She has released five solo albums, most recently “Wracąc” (2023, Def Jam Recordings).

• Ala Boratyn from the ALA ZASTARY formation. Ala Boratyn co-founded the Blog 27 duo with Tola Szlagowska. In 2007, she released her debut solo album “Higher”, later she performed with the bands Wicked Giant, New People and Ala Zastary. In 2020, in a duet with Jakub Sikora, she released the album “Jutro?”.
• Kornelia Kiszewska from the Ej! band. Kornelia Kiszewska, together with Ivan Kosov, creates the band Ej!, a new, independent, expressive female and migrant voice. Member of the Jasna 10 team: Social Cultural Institution of Political Critique.
• Majka Jeżowska – vocalist, composer, lyricist. She created such hits as: “And I prefer my mother”, “All children are ours”, “Colorful children”, “Doll from Saxon porcelain”, “He didn’t love us” (duet with Krystyna Prońko), “The color of the heart”. (the first anthem of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity), on which she “raised” several generations of listeners. An ally of the LGBT community.
• Karolina Cicha – singer, actress, composer, multi-instrumentalist, literary scholar. She recorded songs to texts by Tadeusz Gajcy (“Gajcy!”, 2010, published by the Warsaw Uprising Museum), and dealt with the musical legacy of Jewish, Karaite and Tatar culture. At the University of Białystok, she defended her doctorate on the poetry of Adam Zagajewski.
• Małgorzata “Tekla” Tekiel – musician, bassist, composer. Related to, among others: with the bands Morświn, Janerka for basses and voices, Pochwalone. She has collaborated with the bands Złote Dobrze, Pudelsi, Deuter, Szum, Pati Yang, and Karpaty Magiczne. He creates music for theater performances, performative activities, and poetic meetings with authors.

• Zuzanna Wrońska Superstar – singer, songwriter and composer, known from the duo Ballady i Romanse, which she created with her sister, Barbara, with whom she recorded, among others: music for the film “Daughters of the Dance”. In turn, together with Marcin Macuk, she created the soundtrack of the drama “Silent Twins”. He co-creates the duo “Rozmowa” with Kuba Czubak. Now he is working on a solo album with Igor Nikiforov.
