Euskaraz irakurri: Jon Fosse, 2023ko Nobel Sariduna Literature
Norwegian author Jon Fosse is the winner of the prize Nobel Prize in Literature 2023 “for his innovative plays and prose that give voice to the ineffable,” as announced today by the Swedish Academy in Stockholm.
According to the Academy, the winner has developed a style that has come to be known as “Fosse minimalism”, easily recognizable in his second novel, “Steng gitar” (1985), in which he makes variations on his central themes, such as of the critical moment of indecision.
The jury assures that Fosse’s work presents us with a world similar to that of Franz Kafka with the difference that this appears in situations that are typical of our daily lives. He also notes parallels with the Irish Samuel Beckettone of the greatest exponents of the theater of the absurd, or the German poet Georg Trakl.
Fosse, 64, is an author prolific, who in his more than 40 years of career has written novels, essays, twenty plays, collections of poems and a collection of children’s books. She writes in Norwegian, although she uses the less widespread official variant (only 10% of the population uses it). According to Fosse, the award is a recognition of this language and the work of disseminating it. For now, None of his works have been translated into Basque..
The writer himself has said he is “overwhelmed, somewhat scared” for the prize.
