They went to the wedding by tram, they have been together for 55 years. They say: we are made for each other

Love fell like a bolt from the blue. They met at the acting department, although it’s hardly a coincidence. During the audition for the cabaret, the musician heard many good words about the actress, and when he met her, he immediately focused all his attention on her. “They interrogated me and I heard that they had a beautiful girl who, as my friend said, lacked nothing,” said Włodzimierz Korcz in an interview for “Viva”. He had been courting Elizabeth for many months, accompanying her when she returned home. The first step was finally initiated by the actress, who invited him for coffee.

First steps towards love

They could never remain silent during meetings. They were constantly talking, touching on topics close to their hearts, trying to get to know each other as best as they could. “We talked to each other constantly, as if we wanted to fill the gap when we didn’t know each other yet… We were standing in a small corridor under the stairs and at four in the morning we were surprised that it was so bright outside. And yet we arrived home around midnight. And these conversations made us know that we would be together for the rest of our lives,” Włodzimierz Korcz continued in an interview with “Viva”.

At the age of 21, they declared that they wanted to be together for the rest of their lives. They were young, and the musician’s father did not necessarily like the prospect of a quick wedding. So they waited two years, although, as Vladimir later confessed, at that age he was still not ready for marriage. “I felt completely immature. My wife looked like she was 16,” he added.

Starostecka and Korcz almost missed their wedding. The couple intended to take a taxi, but many other people were waiting for a free fare. Determined to reach their destination on time, they went to the tram stop, where the crowd was no less crowded. “I pushed Elżbieta into the crowd, I was holding on to the railing. I found a place for one leg on the step. The other was hanging elegantly in the air,” the composer told “Vivie”. Elizabeth, in turn, tried to protect the bouquet of flowers in her hand at all costs.

The spouses became parents of two children. First, their son was born, and after 11 years a daughter joined the family. Elżbieta Starostecka consciously gave up her professional life to stay at home with her children. Korcz often traveled abroad, and once they even spent Christmas apart. It was a difficult time for the whole family. “There was cement on the floors, we had no furniture, things were in boxes. My son was in the fourth grade. Two-month-old Ania in a stroller. Our dogs. A free place at the table… A very sad Christmas,” Starostecka said.

The couple managed to survive life’s difficulties. It wasn’t easy, but for Włodzimierz Korcz and Elżbieta Starostecka, love was the most important thing. In an interview with “Onet”, the actress gave her recipe for a happy relationship: “Live in such a way that reason does not allow us to lose what love has given.”
