“Millionaires”. He had a million at his fingertips, but he was eliminated in the final question

Mr. Miko³aj played phenomenally, and viewers expected that he would be the one to reach for the title million in Thursday’s episode of “Millionaires”. Even though he knew the answer to practically every question, the final one turned out to be too difficult for him. He left the studio with a guaranteed sum of PLN 40,000. What happened during Mr. Nicholas’ game?

On Thursday evening, Mr. Mikołaj, a philologist living in Warsaw, started the game for a million. During the elimination round, he managed to answer the question without any problems, overtaking his competitors gathered in the studio. The first question was about music, namely which key without two dots would resemble half a heart. Mr. Mikołaj chose from four answers: A: adjustable; B: epiphyseal; C: treble clef; D: bass.

Next was a question about the astronomical term perihelion. Here, the participants also had no doubts. To put it simply, Mr. Claus was going strong, and the closer he got to the main prize, the more support he received from the audience. The question for PLN 250,000 turned out to be problematic, so the participant reached for the first lifebuoy. Thanks to this, he once again gave the correct answer, finally moving on to the next, 10th question. It, in turn, read as follows: “The name of this famous geographical object comes from the name of an American pilot who in the 1930s landed near the place from which it flows.”

  • A: a waterfall in Canada
  • B: rivers in Africa
  • C: waterfall in Venezuela
  • D: rivers in the United States

Mr. Mikołaj thought for a moment, then used the second lifeline, i.e. a phone call to a friend. The participant’s father was waiting on the other end of the phone, but unfortunately he did not know the correct answer either. Faced with this situation, Mr. Mikołaj decided to take a risk. Unfortunately, he incorrectly chose answer D, while the correct answer was actually C: a waterfall in Venezuela. In this way, the participant lost thousands of zlotys and finished the game with a guaranteed PLN 40,000.
