Shakira’s fans who witnessed the 30th Billboard Latin Music Awards 2023 were in for quite a surprise as she was one of the favorite acts with 12 nominations but only managed to win two statuettes. And if that wasn’t enough, the Barranquilla native did not attend the ceremony at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Miami, Florida.
After her interview at Faena Forumla during Miami Latin Music Week, everyone expected the 46-year-old artist to triumph again at Billboard’s gala, where she just won Latin Pop Solo Artist of the Year and Latin Pop Song of the Year with BZRP Music Session #53, El Herald review.

Why didn’t Shakira attend the 2023 Billboard Awards?
The day before the ceremony, the singer spoke about her state of mind and assured that she was “on the honeymoon” with music, as she continued her artistic path after separating from the father of her children, Gerard Piqué.
Since then, she has been dedicated to creating and composing songs that have brought her total and great success, such as Session #53 with Argentina’s Bizarrap, although many doubted the song and asked her to change the lyrics.

Even so, Shakira was not present at the ceremony where he was awarded two statuettes, and so far the reasons for his absence are unknown, since in the past months he was present at the Premios Juventud in Puerto Rico, where he won eight awards, and at the MTV awards, where he received the Video Vanguard award.
At the moment, Shakira did not comment on the awards won, and even less on her absence from the Watsco Center stage where artists such as Bad Bunny with seven awards, Featherweight with eight statuettes and Karol G with five excelled.
