Disney + follows the example of Netflix. This is the end of account sharing, the first users have received e-mails

Netflix has set an example to other streaming platforms that the fight against shared accounts can pay off. This time, Disney + decided to limit sharing the application password with friends.

When he saw a drop in new subscribers, he made a risky decision. The platform changed the rules of using the application and started fighting against account sharing. Users were outraged, but data shows that Netflix’s tactics paid off and the platform began to record growth. No wonder the competition is looking at similar solutions.

Disney+ follows in Netflix’s footsteps. No more sharing accounts?

This time, the ban on sharing accounts will appear on Disney+. The platform is analyzing the possibilities of introducing new restrictions from August 2023. “We already have the technical capabilities to monitor most of such activities. I will not provide specific numbers, except to say that the matter is significant,” says Bob Iger, president of Disney, quoted by Wirtualne Media.

Disney emphasizes that limiting the sharing of accounts on its streaming platform is currently a priority for the company. However, the changes will not start with Poland. Engadget.com reports that Disney+ subscribers from Canada have already received the first emails informing about the new rules. The message from the streaming portal states that the application will block the option of sharing an account with people outside your household from November 1.

Disney+. Subscription prices in Poland

Disney+ defines “household” similarly to Netflix. This is a collection of devices that are associated with the account owner’s place of residence. For now, we do not know whether the platform will introduce the possibility of paying a surcharge for users from outside the household.

Currently, a monthly Disney+ subscription costs PLN 28.99 in Poland. The annual package allows you to use the platform for PLN 189.90.
