“It is an absolute joy because finally they are some awards that were created to recognize Latin voices, voices that play in different areas, in the dubbing of series, of films in the commercial part, commercial announcers, there are even radio announcers”, says Khalifé, of Lebanese descent.

“And, on the other hand, it also seeks to reward the announcers who have made a company in this industry, those who have built a brand are rewarded, so very happy, I feel very honored also because I am sharing nominations with giants of the Latin American industry ”, he adds.

The Quito artist has recorded for several national and international brands, the latter with Nintendo, Coca-Cola, WIX (website company), Domino’s, KLM, Amazon Alexa, among other. He comments that he has collaborated with Nintendo on some occasions, which he describes as gratifying. “It is nice that from this little corner called Ecuador we can amplify our voices and get to transcend and cross borders, and also one learns that the pace of work they have in other industries, you have to deliver quickly, you have to do it well and you have few opportunities to show what one can do ”, he points out.

Khalifé also participated in the trailers of the series Ricky Zoom, which is broadcast in Discovery Kids.

He started in the world of voice over 15 years ago. Initially he studied music production and audio production, which led him to work in advertising, making music for advertising, and consequently he became voice over. “Once they asked me to make a demo, I handed in the music and I recorded my voice as a reference for the announcer and the client told me ‘we want him to keep your voice’; So, that was like my first voiceover and it was a bit by accident, and then I realized how beautiful this is and the importance of knowing how to communicate ”, he explains.

We can all be announcers, according to Khalifé, but he emphasizes that you have to know how to act. “Finally, it is that, it is a performance, if I am speaking for Nintendo, I have to ask Nintendo, who am I, who am I talking to, what am I saying and being that character … We all have a voice with which a The public can feel identified and understand that not all roles are for you … ”, he says.

As part of Alcec’s mission, which includes more than 100 members, Khalifé points out that training is important for those who want to make voice over into a profession. Also create suitable conditions for the industry in Ecuador. “I always believe that we must seek the collective well-being of colleagues and we are all united,” he says.

The Quito native also leads the social initiative called Voices for Humanity, which seeks the endorsement of world-renowned organizations such as UNICEF, UNESCO, etc. “What I’m looking for a bit is to bring together the most important voices from both Latin America and the United States and Europe. Talk to well-known voice actors, people who have worked on Disney dubbing for Pixar … And also announcers from important brands to convey the messages that are important to humanity, for example, the use of a mask, child malnutrition (. ..) and make an alliance with the media ”, he says.

How to make the voiceover a company?

“The voiceover is like any other professional activity to which one wants to dedicate himself, so the first thing is to love what one does and the second to understand that every company has its processes, accounting, marketing. It is necessary to generate internal processes of quotations, casting, of voice delivery, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, there is already the part of having the equipment, having a booth, an acoustically designed room; But the most important thing of all is to never stop studying and preparing. Do couching of locution all the time, because there are many styles in which one can perform ”, he responds.

“Sometimes you think that the voice over is just commercials or going to a radio booth, but there are many options that you don’t even think about, for example, answering machines, museum tours, bus tours, etc.”, he explains. .

The live broadcast of the awards will be made on the Facebook account of the Lavat Awards, starting at 18:00. (I)
