Mieczysław Zub was born on October 10, 1953 in Lower Silesia, more precisely in Krzeczyn Mały. He worked as a policeman for years, which is why he did not arouse suspicion for a long time. It is not known when the services would have found him if it had not been for the mistake he made.

Mieczysław Zub’s first victim was a fourteen-year-old girl. He dragged her into the forest
He committed his first attack on November 29, 1977, when he attacked a fourteen-year-old girl returning from rehearsal. He offered to walk her home, and because he was wearing a uniform, the girl trusted him. He then dragged her to a nearby forest, where he told her to lie down, undress, and leave after some time. When she returned home, she alerted her parents, who reported the matter to the police. Initially, the services suspected that they were dealing with a man who was only impersonating an officer, which is why Mieczysław Zub was not even suspected. The investigative group that dealt with his case was given the code name Fantomas.
He attacked more women. Three years later he killed for the first time
In later years, he committed several more robberies, during which he wore a policeman’s uniform, but he was soon executed. All because of his wife’s complaints about his behavior. He attacked and raped a woman again in September 1980. A year later he committed his first murder. His victim was a 19-year-old girl who was 8 months pregnant. By the end of 1982, he killed three more, completely random women, including teenagers.
By chance he was caught. He confessed to all crimes
For a long time there was no indication that he would be caught. The reason could be the fact that at that time the police were trying to stop the “Vampire from Bytom”, who was a priority for them. By chance, the services were on his trail. In March 1983, he raped and then murdered a sixteen-year-old girl. During the brutal attack, he lost his pass that allowed him to enter the steelworks where he had recently started working. It was thanks to her that he was detained and arrested on March 8. During the proceedings, he confessed to all crimes. He was sentenced to death for 4 murders and 13 rapes. While in prison, he behaved aggressively. On September 29, 1984, he committed suicide.
