On September 30, Jan Holoubek’s new film, based on true events, “Doppelganger”, will be released in cinemas. The Doppelganger” with Jakub Giersza³ and Tomasz Schuchardt in the main roles. On the same day, “Saw X”, already hailed as the most terrifying part of the series, the sci-fi hit “The Creator” with John David Washington and “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3”, another installment of the comedy about the crazy Portokalos family.
This month, “The Green Border” by Agnieszka Holland, which won an award in Venice and stimulated public discussion, was also released on cinema screens, as well as “Ghosts in Venice”, i.e. Kenneth Branagh’s variation on Agata’s prose. Christie and the comedy “In-Laws 2”, which is, of course, a sequel to the well-received “In-Laws”.
Already on September 30, there will be an opportunity to see one of the premieres of recent weeks, paying only PLN 12 for a cinema ticket. On this day, the great Cinema Festival is celebrated all over Poland. On this one day a year, large multiplexes and small arthouse cinemas unite under the patronage of the Polish Film Institute. Over 250 cinemas across Poland take part in the campaign, their full list can be found at www.swietokina.com.
This is the eighth edition of this event. Last year, it gathered half a million viewers on the big screen. Among them were both cinema lovers who took advantage of the opportunity to watch premiere hits much cheaper than usual, and those who decided to check whether a screening in a dark room with a large screen actually provides an experience incomparable to a home cinema. Will it be possible to break the record this year and gather even more people at the Cinema Festival? We’ll find out on September 30!
