On Monday, September 25, the image of YouTuber Jakub Chuptyś, known as Gargamel, collapsed. Laura Klaus, the creator’s former partner, published a recording on TikTok in which she confessed that her ex-boyfriend had used physical and mental violence against her.

Gargamel addressed the matter almost immediately. He focused on honesty. In a statement, he apologized to his ex-girlfriend and admitted everything she accused him of. “What I did in 2020 is inexcusable and there is no excuse for my actions. I am very ashamed of it, but I am ready to accept all the consequences of these actions,” he wrote on Facebook. At the same time, the YouTuber emphasized that he is not only aware of the mistakes he has made, but also works to not repeat them. “I often talk about my sobriety on streams. I work on myself and every year I try to be a better person. I know that nothing can reverse what I have done, I focus on continuing to work on myself. And again – with all my heart I’m sorry,” he added.
Jakub ¯ulczyk, one of the most widely read novel authors in Poland, commented on Chuptyś’s statement. The writer admitted that he does not follow internet dramas, but the situation with Gargamel made him angry.
Jakub Żulczyk about Gargamel: Not every alcoholic spits on sixteen-year-olds
“For 10 years I have been raising a girl who is now not much older than his victim. So if it were my child, I would throw the son of a bitch down the stairs. Especially thanks to Providence that he doesn’t walk. Of course, it will sound unpleasant, but I must admit that “My friend always aroused a specific kind of disgust in me. He emitted a slippery, reptilian vibe of someone pretending to be moral and intelligent,” writes ¯ulczyk.
The author of the novel “Blinded by the Lights” also referred to the problem of alcoholism discussed by Gargamel. “Now I feel angry. It also bothers me that the guy is using alcoholism and the treatment he is supposedly undergoing to explain his sins. No, not every alcoholic spit on sixteen-year-olds. And these alcoholics who committed evil and violence are facing the truth, starting understand how long the road is ahead of them,” writes Żulczyk.
At the same time, he emphasizes that he does not rule out Chuptyś, but notes that he will have to work for a second chance. “Mercy exists, I learned it in AA, but you have to work VERY seriously for this second chance. You won’t get it or ask for it on the Internet. It won’t last a year, two, five. I wish Gargamel this penance with all its consequences” – the author concludes.
