After the premiere of “Dewajtis”, viewers’ opinions are strongly divided. Some praise the new TVP production, others compare it to “The Crown of Kings”, which, to put it bluntly, turned out to be a flop. Viewing results indicate a huge success of “Dewajtis”, which was watched by an average of 2.25 million viewers on the premiere day.

On September 17, it broadcast the first episode of the series “Dewajtis”, which was based on the novel by Maria Rodziewiczówna, published over 130 years ago. The book “Dewajtis” was as popular as the school classic, “Nad Niemnem”. The plots of both novels were devoted to the fate of Poles living in the eastern borderlands of the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth after the January Uprising.

The new TVP production managed to achieve impressive viewership results. Only the first episode was watched by an average of 2.25 million viewers on the premiere day. This is more than in the case of “War Girls”, which attracted 1.7 million viewers throughout September.

Viewer ratings, however, do not exactly match viewership. , who has very extreme opinions about him. In one of the posts we can read, for example, that the new TVP production is “Pleasure to watch”, or that “It’s getting more and more interesting”, but there are also less flattering statements. Some people also compare “Dewajtis” to “The Crown of Kings”.

What is “Dewajtis” about?

After his father’s death, Marek Czertwan must take care of the Poświcie estate left by the insurgent magnate Kazimierz Orwid. The main character wants to give the estate to the deceased’s daughter, Irena, whose charm he cannot resist.

The cast of “Dewajtis” includes Karol Dziuba (playing the main character), as well as Michalina Olszańka (as Irena) and Wacław Warchoł (as Kazimierz Orwid).

What does the title “Dewajtis” mean?

The titular “Dewajtis” is an ancient oak that is a symbol of eternal duration. This is what Marek Czertwan and the owner of the estate, Irena, are fighting for.
