Massive attacks on “The Green Border” have been going on for several weeks, but only today it can be safely said that emotions related to the film are reaching their peak. Andrzej Duda criticized the production in scandalous words, and yesterday’s edition of “Wiadomości” showed as many as four materials attacking the film.
The government orders the spot to be broadcast before the broadcast of “The Green Border”. Will multiplexes do this too?
Previously, the “Green Border” was insulted by politicians of the ruling party. Zbigniew Ziobro even compared the director to propagandists of the Third Reich. An outrageous statement from the Border Guard then appeared, recalling the slogan from the times of the German occupation: “Only pigs sit in the cinema.”
Today, however, the Ministry of the Interior and Administration joined the fight, organizing a special conference during which shocking news related to the “Green Border” was announced. Błażej Poboży said that screenings of “The Green Border” in arthouse cinemas will be preceded by a spot prepared by the Ministry of Interior and Administration. He described the film itself as “a lampoon”.
Although multiplex chains will not be obliged to implement this regulation, we decided to ask their representatives whether they would also like to broadcast the government spot before the screening of Agnieszka Holland’s film. A representative of the Helios cinema chain informed that in these cinemas viewers will see the production without a prior broadcast of the spot. It turns out that it will be similar in Multikino branches.
‘The Multikino cinema chain does not plan to broadcast this spot,’ wrote Natalia Kaleta-Nguyen, Multikino’s representative, in an e-mail to the editorial office of Kultura Gazeta.pl.
