In autumn they sneak into houses. Instead of in your coffee, scatter it by the door and you’ll be fine

When the days get colder, we want to cover ourselves with a blanket and lie on the couch all day. The same applies to insects, which also look for a nice, warm place to wait out the winter. That’s why they eagerly sneak into our homes in every possible way. How to prevent this? Let’s go to the kitchen.

Outsiders from the court are not welcome in the house. While many people are not bothered by the presence of one or two spiders, an entire army of ants, flies, mosquitoes and various beetles does not fill us with optimism. There are many ways to deal with them, but their effect is not always satisfactory.

Products from stores can be harmful to household members

In stores, you can get various products that are designed to fight insects. These are usually sprays or poisons, e.g. in the form of colored “sugar”. The former are very irritating to the respiratory tract, while the latter can be inadvertently detected by pets or, even worse, by the youngest members of the household. In addition, they are not very humane because they kill pests. Therefore, it is definitely worth opting for less invasive methods that will not be toxic to household members and will drive away unwanted guests instead of decimating them.

Take it from the kitchen and spread it in strategic places

Products found in most homes are perfect for this purpose. Something that we use a lot in the fall is especially recommended. Cinnamon has repellent properties. Many insects, spiders and other creatures considered pests do not tolerate the pungent smell of this spice. Therefore, it is worth using it in strategic places.

It is worth focusing on the corners where we most often see insects and other intruders. It is also a good idea to think about thresholds and entrance door frames, as well as window frames and window sills. You should sprinkle some cinnamon in these places and “rub” it. Another option is to use cinnamon oil, which will not be visible. You can also mix the oil with water in a 1:10 ratio and cover the mentioned places with this mixture, e.g. using a cloth or a sprayer. We can easily scare away unwanted insects and spiders without having to inhale toxic fumes.
