The protest against “The Green Border” in front of the cinema in Krakow is not a joke. “Let’s not let this happen!”

The closer we get to the premiere of “The Green Border”, the more controversial the film is. The poster of Agnieszka Holland’s latest work appears on social media in cinemas and within a few seconds it gains a lot of interest. Unfortunately, most of the comments are from people who have not seen the production. These are often vulgar, offensive phrases that shed bad light on the picture, which is not about the Border Guard – as right-wing sympathizers argue – but about humanity.

This is confirmed by the opinions of critics who saw the film in Venice and at press screenings. Reviewers emphasize that “The Green Border” criticizes a heartless system and is a universal film. Maciej Stuhr, who played an episodic role in the film, notes that Agnieszka Holland presented several different perspectives in the film. The actor notes that if the director had actually focused on a negative image of the guards, “there would have been nothing to collect.”

Interviews with the creators, subsequent reviews and articles aimed at explaining the right-wing campaign appear in contrast to the statements of Polish politicians and calls to boycott the film from, for example, the Nadwiślański Border Guard Unit. The protest against the “Green Border” was organized by the All-Polish Youth.

Kino pod Baranami in Krakow recently announced that tickets for the pre-premiere screening of “The Green Border” sold out very quickly. The All-Polish Youth did not like this and announced a protest for Thursday, September 21.

All-Polish Youth versus “Green Border”. 40 people declare that they will go to the protest

“This Thursday, the Pod Baranami Cinema will host the premiere of the film “The Green Border” directed by Agnieszka Holland, the same one who became famous for her outstanding oikophobia and scandalous distortion of the history and image of Poland,” we read in the announcement of the demonstration. “The film ‘The Green Border’ deliberately distorts the truth about the service of the Border Guard and the Polish Army on the eastern border. Its narrative fits into Kremlin propaganda,” the organization adds.

So far, interest in the event is rather low. Forty users of the website declared their participation in the picket on Facebook. In the description of the event we can read, among other things, that “Holland stands shoulder to shoulder with Lukashenko and Putin in slandering Poland and those who defend our country.” It is worth recalling that the people responsible for the event most likely did not have the opportunity to see the production.
