The number of foreigners receiving benefits in Poland increases every year. In 2022, there were 2,000 more. more than in 2021. The laws are constructed in such a way that foreigners can use many loopholes. – From January 2024, the Polish retirement age for women will be the lowest in the European Union. We grant the right to a pension after just one day of work, says Dr. Tomasz Lasocki, retired from the University of Warsaw, in an interview with the portal. Thanks to this, a foreigner can gain a pension that will amount to a few groszy. However, profit should be sought elsewhere. The expert pointed out that even if they receive a penny pension, they are also entitled to a 13th and 14th pension, various health benefits, and even a survivor’s pension.

Pension for foreigners in other countries. The law is different there

In other countries the situation is completely different. It is not enough to work there legally for just one day to receive a pension. In Germany, you can apply for it after paying contributions for at least 5 years and it still does not mean that you will receive the benefit.. In the UK you have to work for 10 years to get a pension, and in the Netherlands it takes at least a year of contributions to get a fraction. There, for each year worked, you are entitled to 2% of the lowest pension.
