On September 17, 2023, the first of 7 episodes of the series “Dewajtis” appeared on TVP, the action of which takes place in 19th-century Samogitia. The main character is a landowner, Marek Czertwan, who abandons his dreams and life plans to fulfill his father’s last will and take care of the land left after his death by the man’s friend, the magnate Kazimierz Orwid. In the meantime, he will discover that the rightful heir of the estate, Irena, lives in America. When he arrives at the manor, he will completely change the life of Marek, who, focused on others, will completely lose himself.
Filip Zylber is responsible for directing the production, and the script, based on the novel by Ariadna Lewańska, Monika Franczak and Paweł Jurek, was supervised by Ilona Łepkowska. The cast included a galaxy of the biggest Polish stars. The screen stars included: Karol Dziuba, Stefan Pawłowski, Małgorzata Pieczyńska, Tomasz Sapryk, Maria Pakulnis, Michalina Olszańska and Ada Szczepaniak.

According to Dewajtis, it does not meet the needs of the modern viewer, nor does it fit current tastes or trends, and the archaic language will be an obstacle to understanding the content for many.
It promises to be an artificial, strange creation that has no chance in competition with most adaptations of Polish literature, does not match the tastes and requirements of the modern viewer and is simply bad.
