During the TVP concert “Together for Safe Borders”, the soldier and rapper Witold Ostynowicz known as Vito appeared on stage. In his song he referred to Agnieszka Holland’s latest film “The Green Border”.

On September 17, the “Together for Safe Borders” concert organized by Telewizja Polska took place in Suwałki. “On the anniversary of the Soviet attack on Poland, television will broadcast a concert as an expression of gratitude to the soldiers of the Polish Army who maintain security on the country’s borders. The repertoire will include well-known military songs and the most beautiful patriotic songs,” the television announced.

The concert on the largest stage in the city’s history began with a speech by Mariusz Błaszczak, Minister of National Defense. The invited stars who played for Polish soldiers included Natasza Urbañska and Viki Gabor. The event was hosted by Rafał Brzozowski and Małgorzata Opczowska.

In the first part of the program, Senior Special Specialist also appeared on stage. Witold Ostynowicz with the Representative Artistic Ensemble of the Polish Army at his side. In his time off duty, the artist fulfills his duties as a rapper nicknamed Vito. “A soldier born to fight, hello Suwałki!” – began his performance.

The artist’s song was filled with xenophobic lines. Vito mockingly calls emigrants “tourists” and “Ivans”. He accuses them of rudeness and manipulation. “They don’t want to work, but to take away social security and break the line of Europe. They want to be smart – play on emotions, and the peasants are pushing them against the fence,” raps the soldier and warns not to approach the border because “you’ll get gassed.”

This was not the rapper’s only appearance at the concert. Vito returned to the stage with another song titled “Warsaw Children”. The song includes fragments of one of the most popular Polish military songs from World War I, “O my rosemary”. This time, in the song, the soldier urged people to stop criticizing the army and mentioned the hate that was being poured out on his environment.

There was also a reference to the latest film. The rapper, who probably hasn’t seen “The Green Border”, decided to attack the work of the Polish director, awarded in Venice. “We are in the middle, protect faithfully, load our weapons, bravely defend independence and borders, yo. Listen to those who were there, defended the homeland. The truth is here for the viewer, not the green border,” Vito accuses the production of lies.
