– My grandmother comes from Lviv, she is an actress and the last descendant of the Milwiw family. Therefore, she decided to keep this surname when she married her grandfather. Then we continued this custom in the male line. We are all called Milwiw-Baron. By the way, Baron is my surname, not some pretentious nickname – explained guitarist Afromental in one of the interviews.
Baron’s grandmother played in “The World According to the Kiepskis”, but the theater was her life
Aleksander – like Adam Milwiw-Baron, known from the band Pink Freud, is her grandson, and the son of Piotr, whom Milwiw gave birth to from her relationship with Adam Baron. Lviv writer, doctor and officer Adam Baron died in 1977. Piotr is a jazz saxophonist.
Marlena Milwiw currently lives in the House of Veteran Artists of Polish Stages in Skolimów. She was born in 1931 in Lviv, and made her debut on stage before graduating from the State Higher Theater School in Warsaw in 1955. Throughout her professional career, her main occupation was theater – she could be seen, for example, on the stage of Współczesny in Warsaw, but she also appeared on the big screen and in television productions. Some viewers certainly remember the actress from “Świat dla Kiepskich”. Her film debut was “How to Be Loved” directed by Wojciech Has in 1962. However, in an interview in March this year, she emphasized that she chose TV series and films primarily because of the money:
For me, acting is theater. A film means waiting, there are lights, and the actor comes last. Film is money. A few days in a movie is a month’s wage at the theater. For me, the most important thing is theater. This is unique.
Marlena Milwiw lives in Skolimów: My son survived it terribly, but there was no way out
91-year-old Milwiw has been living in Skolimów for several years. She came to the Home of Veteran Artists of Polish Stages in difficult health circumstances. For years, the actress lived with a pacemaker, which, however, at some point caused sepsis. – I had sepsis of the whole body, which started with the pacemaker electrode stuck in the heart – a few months ago, the actress told “Super Express”.
– I was taken straight from the hospital to Skolimów. It wasn’t like I made the decision to move. I was brought here from the hospital in a state of complete unconsciousness. It took me a few weeks to come back to life. The decision had to be made by my son, who had a terrible experience, but there was no choice. It took a long time to recover. I only felt good when I moved to Skolimów, she said, praising her current place of residence.
The actress was awarded, among others: the Gold Cross of Merit (in 1978) and the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (1988). In 2007, she received the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture, Gloria Artis.
