Washing the sink is not a complicated task. After all, all you need to do is wipe it with a sponge and detergent and take care of the drain pipe from time to time to prevent food remains from accumulating there. However, most people ignore the top water drain. We know it’s there, but because we lack ideas on how to clean it, we simply don’t do it.
Not everyone has a pressure washer – and they don’t have to have one
The matter is not that simple. Well, how do you get to this place to wash it properly? Sometimes we pour strong detergents there, but they do not always reach every nook and cranny. People who have a pressure washer that can perfectly cope with such hard-to-reach places have less of a problem.
Pour it down the drain and the pipes will flow out
Fortunately, there is a way to get rid of all contaminants right there, without having to buy specialized equipment. It turns out that – as in many cases – we will need products that we already have in our kitchen. Just pour a generous portion of dishwashing liquid into the lower drain, sprinkle a full spoonful of baking soda, and then pour vinegar over the drain. At this point, we quickly cover it with a cloth. The reaction of these products will produce a large amount of foam. Due to the fact that we have clogged the drain, the foam will look for a way to “escape” and thus find its way to the upper drain of the sink. We will be able to observe how it escapes through the hole, carrying all the impurities with it. We can pour vinegar several times, each time covering the drain with a cloth. The foam can be rinsed off after a few or a dozen or so minutes to make the mixture more effective on more stubborn dirt.
