With Olga, Zapasiewicz began to rebuild his life and gave up his addiction. They got married only in 1991. They were married for the next 18 years, although malicious people did not predict their happiness. – If our relationship were not based on authentic feelings, it would have ended a hundred times over – Sawicka recalled. In July 2009, Zapasiewicz received a diagnosis from doctors: advanced liver cancer. He died three days later, on July 14, 2009.
