While she was lying in a coma, her husband died. She passed away two weeks later. They were together for 40 years

Krystyna Kołodziejczyk made her theater debut in 1959, and a year later she graduated from the acting department in Łódź. She first appeared on screens in the film “King Maciuś I” in 1957, although she was not included in the credits. She had to wait until 1959 for her full-fledged debut. She has appeared on stage and screens for over 60 years, with over 100 roles under her belt. Viewers remember her from such productions as “”, “40-year-old”, “Polish roads”, “Daleko od szosy”, “Lalka”, “Zmiennicy”, “”, “Miodowe lat” or “Father Mateusz”. Many productions with her participation can still be watched on screens or on streaming services such as TVP VOD. Friends, family and colleagues called her “Kiksa” and she was often mentioned in credits under this name.

The nickname was invented by her friend, Zofia Saretok. – She simply added the first letters of my name and surname and my twisted character. Kiksa-fiksa – admitted wz poznarze.pl. After taking the exam for acting school, she heard from Roman Polanski that “it’s best to punch her in the face”. The director later allegedly encouraged her to have an affair, but “Kiksa” was focused on her dream studies. – The final opinion of the examination committee was: “Young, unmannered, can’t do anything, with a divine spark” – she recalled. Of course, she was accepted into the school.

Krystyna Kołodziejczyk had two husbands. The first one was director Andrzej Ziębiński. They met in 1964 in a theater in Bydgoszcz, and the fruit of their relationship was a son, Marcin. When they broke up, there were speculations that the reason for the divorce was the actress’ affair with Jan Englert. She herself denied it many times. – When our relationship began to fall apart in 1972, we came to Warsaw and I starred in a television play with Janek Englert, which ended in an innocent flirtation. We have never been a couple, although there were such rumors – in one of the interviews.

She was with her second husband, pilot Wiesław Szyszka, for over 40 years. As she emphasized, the recipe for a happy marriage was friendship and… frequent separations. Szyszko was a flight attendant at LOT Polish Airlines, and there were times when he was away from home for up to half a year. – What mattered to me was friendship and the satisfaction of both of them with their work. And also that we didn’t see each other very often – she revealed. In September 2021, Krystyna Kołodziejczyk was hospitalized after a fall. Doctors kept her in a medically induced coma. While she was unconscious, her husband died. Wiesław Szyszko was in hospice and suffered from pancreatic cancer. “Kiksa” died less than two weeks later, on September 13. She did not know about her husband’s death because she did not regain consciousness. The couple was buried on the same day, September 28, 2021.
