Who can receive survivor’s pension and how much is it?
A survivor’s pension is payable to family members of the deceased person. Children and spouses may apply for it, among others. The benefit will be paid if the deceased was eligible for a retirement or disability pension or met the conditions for obtaining it. Then the amount of the benefit paid will range from 85% to 96% of the deceased person’s benefit, depending on how many people are entitled to a survivor’s pension. However, ZUS must pay at least PLN 1,588.44 gross every month.
Submit this document by September 30. Otherwise, ZUS will not pay the money for this month
However, additional money from the payment of survivor’s pension will go to people who meet the required conditions and provide the appropriate documentation. Some should submit additional certificates to the facility by the end of September 2023. However, this only applies to children, teenagers and people up to 25 years of age if they are still studying. September 30 is the deadline for them to submit an application for a survivor’s pension, and the documentation must be accompanied by a certificate from school confirming that the person is still studying.
The situation is slightly different for students. People who have completed their secondary school leaving exams and are admitted to university must submit a document confirming this to ZUS by September 30. Then, by the end of October 2023, they should submit to ZUS a certificate from the dean’s office confirming the commencement of their studies. However, there is no need to worry. Exceeding the deadline does not mean that the survivor’s pension will be completely lost. You will still be able to submit applications and necessary certificates, a ZUS will then not pay out money only for one month, i.e. for September.
