Sometimes, when taken out of the freezer, it has strange, eye-catching stains. Our first instinct is probably to throw it away. Should we get rid of it? It turns out that the characteristic changes are caused by the so-called frost burn. It is caused by the loss of moisture during freezing and the drying out of some parts of the meat. If stains bother you, just cut out the meat where they appeared.

What does spoiled meat look like from the freezer? They are easy to recognize

If you are not sure whether meat from the freezer is still safe to eat, you should defrost it first. Then use your sense of smell, touch and sight. A spoiled product will emit a characteristic, unpleasant smell. The color of the meat and its consistency will also change – it will become slippery, and when you press it with your finger, a cloudy liquid will leak out.

You should pay attention to the quality of meat when shopping. It’s best if you prepare or freeze it on the same day you buy it. This is important because eating spoiled meat can result in serious food poisoning. They can be recognized by vomiting and painful stomach cramps, which appear up to 6 hours after consuming the spoiled product. For the sake of your health, remember not to re-freeze meat once defrosted.
