In the trailer for “Green Border” you can hear m.in. the issue of “We are transporting tourists, prepare the parcel shop”. “Tourists” are defined by border guards as people who illegally crossed the Polish border (and thus the European Union). “Paczarnia” is a place where they are kept after being caught by the Border Guard.

As the creators announce, it is “a story about the fact that each of us can unexpectedly find ourselves in a borderline situation and be forced to make choices between good and evil. The latest work of the director of famous films: ‘In Darkness’, ‘Europa, Europa’, ‘ and the Golden Lion award-winning film ‘Citizen Jones’ makes us realize that the discussion about moral choices is not the domain of academic halls, but is happening here and now, in contemporary Poland. The fictitious script, deeply rooted in reality, was written jointly by the director, Gabrielia Łazarkiewicz-Sieczko and Maciej Pisuk.

“Green Border” – when is the premiere?

On Saturday, September 9, we will find out whether “The Green Border” will receive awards or distinctions at the 80th Venice International Film Festival. In turn, the film will be shown in Polish cinemas from September 22. It is known that the production also qualified for the 48th Toronto International Film Festival and the 61st New York Film Festival.

– We live in a world where great imagination and courage are needed to face all the challenges of today. The revolution of social media and artificial intelligence have made it increasingly difficult for a clear voice to resound. In my opinion, there is no point in dealing with art if you don’t fight for this voice, if you don’t fight to ask questions about important, painful, sometimes unsolvable topics, putting us before choices, sometimes very dramatic. What is happening on the Polish-Belarusian border is such a situation for me, says Agnieszka Holland.
