When she found out what character she would play in “Ranch”, she was shocked. This wasn’t what she had imagined

Grażyna Zielińska gave an interview in which she recalled her work on the set with great sentiment, revealing many secrets behind the scenes of the production. It all started in a theater in Płock, where she met an aspiring director, Wojtek Adamczyk. When he started preparing for the series, he came up with the idea to cast her as an herbalist. At first, though, she wasn’t convinced. “I heard that I was to play a village grandmother. I thought I misheard. (…) I was in my late fifties at the time and they wanted me to play a grandmother. Something terrible! But I wasn’t fussy and I didn’t make fun of her,” she recalled. Ultimately, the script delighted her, and the first-class actors made her decide to get involved in the project. Today, she claims that if she refused, she would “regret it for the rest of her life.”

After the success of the first season, work on the next series began immediately, but the character of Zielińska, as one of the few, was not included by the writers. – Even a dog with a lame leg was not interested in me – she said, adding that at the time she felt that “she was a nightmare actress” and that determined her fate in the series. “I was convinced it was my fault. That I played tragically and that’s why they don’t want me anymore. I must admit that I experienced it very hard. (…) I felt pain in my heart – she said bitterly. In the meantime, however, she played in the movie “Ranczo. Wilkowyje”, and later appeared in subsequent seasons.

She was reprimanded by the director. This day is one of the few that he remembers badly

Zielińska recalls her work on the set almost exclusively positively. She enjoyed the presence of the actors she admired, and it was a privilege for her to spend time with them. This was also the case when she met Franciszek Pieczka. – I had the opportunity to sit with him in the same bus and eat krupnik. Oh Jesus! It’s hard to believe! I ate soup with the real Mr Pieczka – she said. She always approached her work with great commitment. Although she prepared for a long time before the shooting days, not everything always went her way.

There were days when she couldn’t find herself in front of the camera. One of them still remembers with embarrassment. – I played a scene with Solejukowa, or Kasia Żak, and I was wrong all the time. At one point, Wojtek Adamczyk shouted to me: “Buba, this is the 38th double.” I thought I would burn with shame. (…) It was stupid for me to show myself to anyone – she recalled. Finally, she revealed that during the production of the 10th season, all the actors already knew that these were their last moments on the set. She admitted that later the idea of restoring the series or creating the film “Ranch. Revenge of the Witches” came up several times, the script for which was written by Andrzej Grembowicz before his death. Ultimately, however, the plans ended and nothing indicates that this will change.
