Katowice. A new mural with the likeness of Zbigniew Wodecki welcomes visitors
It was the capital of Upper Silesia that decided to commemorate Zbigniew Wodecki with a new mural. In August, 10 years have passed since the musician’s performance at the OFF Festival in Katowice. It was then that the artist, together with the Mitch & Mitch group, played the entire album “1976: A Space Odyssey”.
On September 5, a unique work was unveiled at Tylna Mariacka Street at Francuska street. On the mural we see a smiling artist and his lush hair, into which important symbols are woven. From Wodecki’s hair emerges a microphone, trumpet, violin, keyboards, and even Maja the Bee, the heroine of one of his greatest hits. The work was created with the support of the Foundation for Zbigniew Wodecki, SAWP Association and Energo-Complex.
