“I don’t spend money on my wife”
The earnings of priests depend on the number of church services in a given month, as well as on how much the faithful donate to them. – It may sound bad, but it’s true. In January 10 people died and there was one wedding, and in February one person died and there was no wedding. So it is known that in February the salary will be much lower than it would be in January. A lot also depends on the size of the parish – said the priest.
The priest added that his earnings usually range from 1,000 to 1,000. PLN up to 4 thousand zloty. However, this is not the only money credited to his account. As he noted, he also works at the school. – There may be more than is needed. These are not some huge sums, as they say. […] I don’t spend money on my wife, I don’t spend money on children, on a flat, so this money can accumulate – said Fr. Sebastian Kosecki.
How much leave does the priest have?
Many people also wonder about the issue of priests’ holidays. The Code of Canon Law makes it clear. Priests are entitled to leave. However, it all depends on their position and circumstances. When it comes to the parish priest and vicars, i.e. his deputies, the church law treats them equally in terms of days off. Unless there is a serious reason, the parish priest is allowed to leave the parish each year for a holiday for a maximum of one month, counted continuously or with breaks.
