Juanjo: Morfeo presents his enigmatic new album ‘Enter data_’

The Guayaquil group made up of Carlos the hermit Bohórquez and the brothers Roberto and Enrique Bernous has characterized himself during his career as a project that is not afraid to experiment, even less to merge different elements of pop and rock with electronic music, to have as a final result a unique style that can be attached to genres such as industrial rock, shoegaze and the noise pop.

Enter data_ is no exception in Morpheus’ constant innovation. On this occasion, not only does it have the preponderant presence of synthesizers, drum machines or light guitars, but also with a solemn string ensemble, arranged by musician and producer Andrés Noboa and performed by InConcerto.

Recently published on all digital distribution platforms, consisting of six songs and an approximate duration of 33 minutes, this studio work was produced by its own members, mixed by Carlos Bohórquez and Víctor Andrade (Niñosaurios), while the master was at charge of Calix Mastering.

Morfeo’s new album borders on the conceptual, starting with the title of the songs; each one has the prefix at its beginning data, in addition to certain encrypted messages in between. A gloomy and dark sound, but thanks to the contribution of the string ensemble, it becomes warm and does not allow it to become dense in its development.

Undoubtedly, Enter data_ It is a risky move on the part of its authors, since it breaks the mold of the melodies that are most popular in the city and the country today. Within this proposal, it can be seen that creativity and art prevail over the need to seek recognition or followers. Morpheus stays true to his ideals of offering something more and more surprising.

I recommend listening to this album from beginning to end, which at times becomes indescribable, due to its impeccable musical and artistic production. As an added fact, the band will be releasing video clips of each of the six songs on the album. On the eve of the end of the year, I consider that the new stage of Morpheus is one of the highlights of this 2021.
