The period of teenage rebellion for many parents is not easy – especially when contacts with the child are hindered by the storm of hormones and the feeling of mutual misunderstanding. Then there may be situations in which the words of teenage children hurt more than actions. A reader of the WP portal found herself in a similar situation, who went on vacation with her teenage daughters.
Teenage daughters humiliated their mother on the beach
When Krystyna went on vacation with 14-year-old Klara and 16-year-old Ania, she dreamed of spending time only with women. The woman hoped that this would bring her closer to her daughters who were growing up – especially since they signaled a desire to spend a vacation in an exotic place. After reaching the hotel and unpacking their luggage, the three decided to go to the beach and enjoy the sunshine. Krystyna packed a new bikini in her bag, which she bought especially for the trip.
“When we got to the seaside, I took my shorts and shirt off. I made myself comfortable on one of the loungers. My daughters left me laughing. At that time, I did not know what was the reason for their unusual behavior – recalls Krystyna from WP. At first, the mother did not know what was behind the strange behavior of her daughters. But when she asked, they said bluntly: “You’re embarrassing us. You’re too old for a bikini like that. You look funny in it.” Krystyna did not expect such a reaction. – I haven’t felt so humiliated in a long time. I threw a swimsuit at the bottom of the suitcase and never showed up in it again – she said.
“I will never forget this holiday in my life”
I asked Mrs. Bożena – the mother of 13-year-old Wiktoria and 16-year-old Dawid, to share her own experience from holidays spent with teenage children. In early July, the whole family went on a four-day trip to the Bieszczady Mountains together. – I will never forget this holiday in my life. I felt like I didn’t recognize my own children – she said. – While it was possible to get along with Wiktoria normally (apart from the occasional moodiness), I couldn’t with Dawid at all. When we went to the mountains, he locked himself in the room or on the terrace with headphones. If he deigned to go out with us, he would leave the trail after a while and go in his own direction. A year earlier we were in Szczyrk and I must admit that it looked completely different back then – says Ms. Bożena.
