When thinking about vacation, many people smile broadly and count down the days until the day off. However, there are exceptions. As it turns out, a large group of people do not use their vacation days at all, and when they do go on holiday, they deal with business matters.

While some wait for , others don’t think about it at all. The 52nd edition of the Labor Market Monitor study conducted by the Randstad Research Institute and the Pollster Research Institute showed how Poles feel about holidays. Every third employee has overdue days off to use.

Labor Market Monitor. What did the report show about Poles?

On average 10 days. This is the amount of overdue money that some Poles have. Men are more likely to be in this situation than women. At the end of 2022, 34% of people had unused leave. This result is still lower than the year before, when it was 50%. Mid-level employees (52%) have the most overdue leave, and high-level employees the least (14%). During holidays, 55% of employees answer business calls and 43% reply to business e-mails. – Regardless of the reason for the overdue leave, we should encourage employees to use the rest they are entitled to and not to disturb it with professional matters – quote Monika Hryniszyn (Regional HR Leader Northern Europe and Global Talent w Randstad) portal.

Overdue vacation. Until when can it be used?

1,000 people took part in the Labor Market Monitor survey. 18% admitted that in addition to the basic leave, they have additional days off in the company, e.g. on the occasion of a birthday. What does the Labor Code say about overdue leave? According to 168, the employee should be granted leave by September 30 of the following calendar year at the latest. This does not apply to part of the leave granted under 167, i.e. leave on request. These are a maximum of 4 days off in each calendar year. According to the regulations, the employee must use the outstanding leave from the previous year by September 30 of the current calendar year.
