Another warning against online scammers has appeared on the Internet Police of Lower Silesia. A 76-year-old woman from Legnica spent several days exchanging messages with a person who convinced her that she had been chosen by the holy spirit and for this reason she would receive a substantial donation. To get it, she herself had to transfer tens of thousands of zlotys to the scammer.
Internet scam. She thought the Holy Spirit had chosen her
I may not know you but I believe you have been chosen by the holy spirit and you can receive my monetary donation of US$5,000,000.00 and I believe good things happen…
– this was the message sent by the scammer to the 76-year-old. The pensioner got into a conversation with the thief and kept in touch with him for several days. He asked her to send him money for customs duty and the issuance of a certificate. The woman first transferred PLN 30,000 to the scammer, and then PLN 35,000. In return, she was to receive a donation of 5 million US dollars.
She ordered three large transfers. The bank notified the police
On August 26, the old woman went to the bank to order another transfer. This alarmed the employees of the facility, who began to suspect that the 76-year-old was the victim of a scam. Despite the warning, the woman insisted that she wanted to donate more money. The employees then decided to call the police. Only a conversation with a policeman and an explanation of how online thieves operate made the woman realize that she had been deceived. Dolnośląska calls for caution and common sense.
