It is a set of exercises that is a combination of various techniques, e.g. yoga or isometric exercises. Pilates has grown and grown in popularity over the years and is now available in most fitness schools and some gyms. It is a brilliant support for people training various sports, but not only. It is a set of exercises that aims to help return to proper physical condition and fitness, so it can be practiced by anyone.

Pilates exercises – what are they?

developed by Pilates was created by him mainly due to the fact that he himself needed rehabilitation. He suffered from rickets and needed to properly strengthen his muscular skeleton. Exercises developed by him in practice were initially used mainly by ballerinas, who are exposed to numerous injuries. Then, the interest also went to fitness clubs and since then it has been one of the most popular techniques that is popular in sports clubs. When choosing such classes, you must bear in mind that they are not particularly dynamic, but that is not what they are about either. These classes can be successfully used by people who have contraindications to other physical activities, e.g. pregnant women or people after various types of injuries. When practicing pilates, it is important to pay attention to the accuracy of the exercises performed, because only such exercises can bring the desired results. So speed is not what counts here, but precision.

What are the effects of Pilates?

As with any type of training, regularity and regularity of exercises count. Pilates classes give primarily effects related to improving fitness and fitness, but they also help to reduce pain, as well as strengthen muscles or improve their flexibility. This type of physical activity is very relaxing and calming. This means that we feel less stress, and the rested body regenerates better.

Pilates – exercises for beginners or only for advanced?

In the meantime, however, a few examples of exercises that anyone can do at home. However, it should be remembered that what counts is accuracy, not speed:

  1. Lie down on the ground and stretch your arms along your body, loins pressed into the floor. Slowly lift one leg at a 90° angle with the toes pointed upwards. Then draw small circles on the ceiling, remembering that the movement comes from the pelvis, and at the same time does not detach the back from the floor. After completing a few circles, repeat the exercise on the other leg
  2. Assume a plank position, in which it is very important to have a strong, taut stomach and a tucked pelvis. Then twist the torso with the inhale in such a way as if you wanted to touch the hip bone to the floor, and then return to the starting position with the exhalation. This movement is performed alternately on each hip
  3. Kneel supported on your knees and hands – alternately pull your right elbow and left knee diagonally towards you, and then straighten these two limbs in front of you. Repeat several times on one side and similarly on the other side.

Pilates – what is this exercise?

As you can see, these are the very ones that are designed to restore our fitness and strengthen our body. Everyone can easily adapt to themselves and to their level of advancement. These are exercises designed for basically everyone, although there are some limitations here as well. They mainly concern people with chronic diseases, hernias or recent fractures. However, it is worth asking your doctor beforehand, because you may still be able to afford such physical activity.
