Foreign artists often say in interviews that they really like playing concerts in Poland, and the local audience stands out from the rest. Perhaps in many cases such words are excessive kindness, but Polish fans actually enjoy a very good reputation among the stars. The dedication and great enthusiasm of our compatriots, which they give vent to at concerts, may be due to the fact that foreign stars on Polish stages are still a relatively new thing. It’s been a little over 30 years since the political transformation, and we don’t think we’ve gotten bored of big musical events yet.
Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull praised Polish cities
However, compliments to Poland from foreign artists also apply to the climate of our cities. In “Now Rock” magazine Ian Anderson, legendary musician Jethro Tull told why he likes to come back to our country.
The musician emphasized that it is not important to him whether he plays in Poland, Germany, America or in his rehearsal room. “He’s always focused on playing well,” Anderson said. However, the artist admitted that whenever he has a free moment on tour, he “likes to experience something local”. “I go for a coffee in a nice place, I visit a church, a museum, an art gallery” – says the rockman in an interview.
“It’s easier for me in Poland than in New York”
As it turns out, Anderson notices and appreciates the famous Polish hospitality. “I like to feel like a guest in another country. And it comes easier to me in Polish cities than, for example, in Indianapolis or New York,” admits musician Jethro Tull. Why is this happening? In the cities given by the artist, Anderson does not see anything attractive. “I don’t really want to walk the streets there,” he concludes.
The legendary rock formation Jethro Tull will soon play a concert in Poland. Ian Anderson and his bandmates will appear on September 15 at Dom Muzyki i Tańca in Zabrze and on September 17 at SISU Arena in Bydgoszcz. Tickets for both events are still on sale.
