Ewa Minge at the Journalist: I think that feminism is some kind of total stupidity

In an interview with Journalist, Ewa Minge said what she thought about feminism and did not mince words. The podcast creator cut out a controversial fragment of the conversation and published it on his Instagram profile. Although the designer explains that the words are taken out of context, the women do not hide their indignation.

In a fragment of the recording, which appeared on both Ewa Minge’s profile and Journalist’s, the fashion designer stated that “feminism is some kind of total stupidity”. “Because like the world, women ruled this world. We were the neck of many heads, and a wise neck. I believe that we are getting rid of a huge element of femininity” – she argued. Her statement offended many women. As they noted, Minge filtered the notion of feminism through her own experiences and greatly simplified it.

In the next part of the statement, the designer defended her thesis. “I believe that I have never felt in any way that I am a woman and that I am worse at something. Moreover, if there was ever something smoldering somewhere and something was going on, I was able to give such a retort, present myself in such a way during the first three minutes that you sat down and there was no discussion,” she stressed. Her statement was widely criticized by women. “It’s stupid to say that feminism is stupid. Mrs. Minge has character and can handle it, and millions of women don’t” – we read among the comments.

“Feminism is not about the rise to power … it’s about gender equality … about protection from domestic and sexual violence, about the rights of mothers that women should not be discriminated against because of their biology (pregnancy, caring for children, menstruation), alimony, a dignified life for carers of people with disabilities, accessible gynecological care so that women do not die of cancer due to late diagnosis, access to contraception and sex education” – Martyna F. Zachorska, known on the web as “Lady od feminists”.

“Please listen to the interview and it will be clearer what I am saying”

Minge responded to the wave of criticism by asking to hear the entire interview. “I experienced violence in a relationship, and it was gross. It had nothing to do with gender, it had nothing to do with my naivety and the fact that I met the beast. The beast can be both male and female. Please listen to the interview and it will be clearer what I’m saying” – she wrote in the comments.
