At one time, Rudi Schuberth was a star of Polish television. Hosting popular music programs, including the cult “Singing Pianos”, he gained great recognition. Despite the sympathy of the viewers, he unexpectedly disappeared from the screens and today he lives away from the spotlight. What is she doing now?

, actually Rudolf, was born on August 30, 1953 in Gdańsk. The passion for the stage was born when he was a teenager and joined the Drewniane Ucho band. Later, he decided to focus on education and, upholding the family tradition, he began studying at the Technical University. – What can I say! I loved the shipyard. I soaked it. My dad took me there. (…) The whole environment of my family was connected with the shipyard – he said in an interview for . It soon turned out, however, that he did not like the chosen field of study and finally obtained his diploma only after 7 years.

First, he performed in the formation Mortadella Blues, which he founded with his friends at the beginning of his studies. In 1977, however, another idea was born and, together with Grzegorz Bukała, he established the Occasional and Entertainment Syndykat Wały Jagiellońskie. Probably many remember their cult hits, i.e. “Monika, girl lifeguard” or “Only I miss you”, which they sang at concerts both in Poland and abroad, including in the United States or Canada. Three years later, he began working with the orchestras of Zbigniew Górny and Aleksander Maliszewski, as well as the famous TEY. – After a very successful performance, Zenon Laskowik came to me together with the then director of Estrada Poznańska, Zbigniew Łankiewicz. My legs buckled at the sight of Laskowik. Tey’s cabaret was a different level. Zenon made me an offer I couldn’t refuse, and my friends from Wały understood that I had to try cabaret – he later recalled. Despite numerous artistic activities, Schuberth was forced to take on various other activities. The reason was low wages. – I’ve always had a musical inclination, but you couldn’t make a lot of money from it. I also landed other jobs, adding that he sold beef bone jewelry, altered T-shirts, vacuum-packed food, and ran a jewelry store.

The breakthrough came in the early 2000s, when he started the program for children “Zgadula”. He did a great job in his new role and the audience quickly fell in love with him. Then he stayed in the game show “Kard Sharks”, but the greatest popularity brought him the cult “Singing Pianos”, which was broadcast on the television channel Two in the years 2001 – 2005. – He was close to me because it was about music. They also agreed to my conditions that I would not have an earphone in my ear because I did not want a prompter. I could also perform without a suit – he recalled years later. As an experienced singer and composer, he also joined the judging panel in Polsat’s “How they sing”, which was finally taken off the air in 2009. Then Schuberth slightly slowed down his professional pace. He later performed during the 50s and completely retired from the industry.

In 2023, Rudi Schuberth will celebrate his 70th birthday. Although the media is currently silent about him, he does not complain about the lack of interest, as he is still professionally active and regularly meets with fans during numerous concerts. However, he does not intend to return to television. “A man should not step into the same river twice. I’ve already worked hard on TV, today I’m a free man. I still perform with great musicians, perform my songs in other arrangements and during these performances I am happy to meet the audience – he said in 2017. The main reason he retired from show business was the lack of privacy. “I left the media. They ceased to interest me when they began to interfere with my privacy – in the “Prestiż Trójmiasto” magazine.

He lives in the heart of Kashubia, where many years ago, together with his wife, Małgorzata Chojnacka, he bought a plot of land and then built a house. – I did not need to live in the countryside for a long time, until my wife and I built a house near the city, and the apple of our eye became the garden. We found our paradise on earth by accident. But then it was not yet paradise – he told the portal. It was then that the idea to start my own business was born. The couple decided to build an agritourism center, Folwark Otnoga, which they have been successfully running for years. In addition, they also produce meat products without preservatives. The idea was born when he was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago, which in turn caused him considerable problems with his eyesight. Appropriate diet and treatment made his situation stabilized, he lost weight significantly and today he does not complain about his well-being. “I have completely regained my sight. The only thing left for me is the age-related defect. I became a rabbit, learned to eat greens and vegetables. I don’t eat sugar and bread. I feel great and my weight has dropped by 17 kg.
