High temperatures for many days, especially in a country where the summer tends to be moderately warm rather than hot, is a really big problem. When it’s hot outside, our bodies do what they can to somehow even out body temperature and just survive. And we try to help ourselves by drinking more water, hiding in the shade or cooling ourselves with a cool shower.
We think worse in the heat
Excessive heat is not good for anyone. It is obvious that the elderly and those who suffer from cardiovascular diseases suffer the most. However, there are also significant differences between men and women. Guys often laugh that in winter women bathe in boiling water and they like it very much. In summer it is quite different. It is women who feel the heat more and they endure it much worse.
A post about the hot summer recently appeared on a profile named science_mission. Professor Kasia, as its author signs, explained how the heat is felt by human organisms and how they differ from each other. Our bodies respond with an increase in internal temperature, an increase in heart rate, faster breathing, increased sweating, and decreased blood flow to the brain. All this contributes to the fact that we feel tired, we have trouble concentrating, fluent reading, counting and even expressing ourselves.
We’ll take care of everyone else first, then we’ll start fainting
As it turns out, women feel high temperature worse than men. Of course, this should take into account diseases, medications and other issues. However, we are talking about statistical results. According to the scientist:
In 2022, 56 percent. more heat-related deaths were among women.
Thermoregulation depends on the course of the menstrual cycle, menopause. Women will take the cooling action at an average higher temperature than men
– we read. Professor Kasia also adds – as a rather unpleasant curiosity – that in some environments women should not admit that they feel worse because of the heat. Instead, they should focus first on providing better conditions for their loved ones.
We are all different and it is normal that for a man the temperature is still ok, and for a woman it may be too hot. A person who takes medication can collapse at a lower temperature than a healthy one. So don’t be silly to admit that it’s too hot and ask someone for help when you’re starting to feel weak
– concludes the scientist.
