was born in 1972 and was the fruit of the writer’s first marriage. Already as a child, he read with bated breath the stories created by his father, cheering him on in the development of his career. Apparently, it was the firstborn who inspired Sapkowski to create the first story in the famous series. As a teenager, he subscribed to the “Fantastyka” magazine, which was one of the writer’s favorite magazines. One day, an advertisement for a competition appeared in its pages. Sapkowski’s son died. The writer delivered this message in an unusual way

Andrzej Sapkowski had a deep bond with his son. They were interested in similar literature and willingly exchanged observations on the items they read. Krzysztof somewhat followed in his father’s footsteps. First he studied philosophy, then law, but he graduated from clinical psychiatry. Ultimately, he did not become professionally involved with any of these majors. He translated texts on a daily basis, but he was also a poet and co-founder of the “New Talisman” magazine.

Unexpectedly, in June 2019, the media was informed about the death of Krzysztof Sapkowski. This sad news was provided by Andrzej Sapkowski himself in the “Nowa Fantastyka” magazine in an article devoted to Maciej Parowski, who was the editor-in-chief for many years.

We received the text. Very warm. However, it also contains this: ‘June 2019. Maciek was missing. And my son’. After reading it several times to make sure our eyes weren’t deceiving us, we confirmed. Within a few days of Maciek’s death, Krzysztof Sapkowski, Andrzej’s son, died.

— Marcin Zwierzchowski, the new editor-in-chief of the magazine in a post published on Facebook.
