‘Negu Hurbilak’ receives a special mention from the jury at the 76th Locarno Film Festival

Negu Kolektiboa has presented his first film in 1976 Locarno International Film Festival (Switzerland)in which he has been awarded the Special Mention of the Jury. The story, located in the town of Zubieta (Navarra), reflects the situation of a young woman who has fled for political reasons. ‘Negu Hurbilak’ is being produced by the Basque production company Maluta Films and the Catalan company Cornelius Films.
The group has presented its first film in the “Cineasti dei presenti” section of the 76th edition of the Locarno International Film Festival. Ekain Albite, Mikel Ibarguren, Nicolau Mallofré and Adrià Roca direct this work produced by Maluta Films and Cornelius Films. Negu Kolektiboa is made up of students from the ESCAC film school in Barcelona, who have made their first feature film as a group.
The international premiere of the film took place at the Locarno Festival, where they received their first recognition: the Jury’s Special Mention. The Locarno Festival is known for being specialized in auteur cinema and is one of the most important internationally.
In the words of the collective, the recognition of the jury is “the way to round off the experience of these days”: “Being here was already an award and the support that the festival has given us is exceptional. Presenting our first work here was something incredible, and even more incredible is returning home now with this recognition. It will open many doors for us. to the future”.
And it is that Negu Hurbilak, Negu Kolektiboa’s debut feature, is a film shot over two years with a reduced budget. jone laspiur she is the only professional actress in the film, and the rest of the participants are residents of Zubieta (Navarra).
