Trojanowska began singing seriously in the 1970s. She quickly won the prize for her debut at the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole and conquered the charts. Later, she was also successful in acting.
Izabela Trojanowska did not think about music, she was about to join a convent
Izabela Trojanowska has always openly said that in her life, apart from art, faith is very important. When she was a teenager, she even considered joining a nunnery. She explained that she spent a lot of time in the church because she felt calm and could calm down there. “I didn’t actually leave the church,” she told Elżbieta Jaworowicz.
In an interview with Fakt, the artist once mentioned a special date in her life that turned out to be a breakthrough for her career. In May 1971, Trojanowska performed at the Sacrosong Sacred Song Festival in Chorzów, where she won the Maximilian Kolbe.
“As a 16-year-old Izabela Schutz, I sang in the Church of the Holy Spirit in Chorzów. There, I received the first prize for interpretation from the hands of Cardinal Wojtyła himself at the time. Cardinal Wyszyński was also in the room,” recalled the artist. Although Trojanowska was aware of her skills and even sang in the church choir, she did not see her future in music. “Singing is not a profession” – repeated her father, who did not want her to go to music school and develop her talent.
“Leadership from God”
The life of the singer, known today throughout Poland, changed on the day she met the future pope. In a recent interview with Dobry Tygodnik, the artist returned to that moment. “When he shook my hand, I felt as if I had received a pass to my future profession. (…) I decided that these awards were a safe-conduct from God. From that moment on, I knew what to do in my life,” she emphasized in an interview Viva.
That day, Izabela Trojanowska re-evaluated her life and decided to develop her musical career. The artist noted that after meeting John Paul II, her father’s approach also changed.
