Father Rydzyk’s financial problems. Fewer and fewer people contribute to his foundation

Recently, the media became loud about an expensive gift that Father Tadeusz Rydzyk received from Jacek Sasin. Paweł Majewski, a politician and the Enea Group, presented the Redemptorist with a sword from the times of Mieszko I, dated more or less to the 10th-11th century. According to the Wirtualna Polska portal, it could cost up to PLN 250,000. It soon turned out that the gift was probably a fake.

– This sword is suspicious to say the least – said in an interview with “Gazeta Wyborcza” prof. Przemysław Urbańczyk, professor from the Institute of Archeology of UKSW and the Institute of Archeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. – In the 10th and 11th centuries, even in Western Europe, swords with silver, let alone gold inlays, were not made. In Mieszko’s duchy – absolutely out of the question. So, firstly, it is not a sword “from his time”, and secondly – it is most likely forged – noted the expert.

The Lux Veritatis Foundation recorded a decrease in revenues

Not much time has passed since the scandal with the expensive gift, and Tadeusz Rydzyk is loud again. It turns out that the controversial priest has reasons to worry. Last year, his Lux Veritatis Foundation recorded a decline in revenue. As we learn from media publications on this subject, its profit decreased from PLN 1.4 million to PLN 197.5 thousand. zloty. The profitability of foundations also decreased – from PLN 2.4 million to PLN 214.8 thousand. With less cost reduction last year, the net profit amounted to PLN 197.5 thousand. zloty. Compared to 2021 (PLN 1.4 million), this is a significant decrease.

The value of donations has decreased

Importantly, lower profits from donations were also recorded. And they are the basis for financing Lux Veritatis. In 2021, they amounted to PLN 44 million. In the following year, however, this amount fell to PLN 38.4 million. According to the findings of the Wirtualnemedia.pl portal, the proceeds from the sale of products offered by Lux Veritatis decreased from PLN 12.06 million to PLN 11.51 million. The revenues provided by Telewizja Czasm have also decreased – from PLN 11.14 million last year to PLN 10.98 million today. This sum includes, among others, revenues from advertising, production and broadcasting of programmes.
